This digitally illustrated composition is one of 8 panels I designed and illustrated for the City of Novato’s Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Novato Rotary Club. All 8 signs were installed around Scottsdale Pond, near Novato’s downtown.

This sign includes spot illustrations of three native Western North American bird species in the act of catching/foraging for food items that are commonly found in their respective natural diets. A Green Heron perches on a log protruding out of the water, and holds a small silver fish in its bill. A male American Widgeon swims along with a mouthful of Wigeon Grass. A Song Sparrow perches on a slim branch and holds a blue dragonfly in its bill.
